refresh doesnt resolve issue, and it affects game play
i didnt realize i was down to 4 settlements (same circumstances, lost city, build 5 settlements, rebuild city but did not get a settlement back to my supply). It occurred again after i built 2nd city, so am now down to 3 settlements supply

Total number of cities was correct for all users. All 3 users in the game could see the same 0 remaining settlements for the affected user, even after an F5 refresh for all of us, and the user couldn't build their 5th settlement, so I'm guessing it's a server-side bug, but maybe triggered by the way the data was sent by the browser.
Table #579608263; current turn #495 issue probably occurred around #475 or before but couldn't go back that far in the history.

Earlier i had lost my city due to barbarian attack. Now my total number of settlements is 4 instead of 5.
I got to know that when in the situation in the imgur URL above, i wanted to build a 5th settlement at the brick port: there was no option to do that, the game automatically placed a knight instead of a settlement.

Please help as its a long turnbased game.
Same problem repeated itself a 2nd time in the same game (650369104). I now have 2 city's and 4 settlement on the field. The game does not give me the possibility to build a 5th settlement.
I noticed the log says:
"Animal Hunter has more then 5 settlements due to a previous barbaric attack" (I translated from German, original English text might sound different)
This log does not make any sense and it shows that something is wrong with the count of the settlements after a barbaric attack, loosing a city and then rebuilding it.
F5 didn't help. No matter at which position I tried to build my 2nd city.
Early in the game i lost my city. Later I rebuilt a city, I guess it was at the same position.
Later I had built all my 5 settlements + 1 city. Then I upgraded a settlement to city, but still had no settlements instead of 1. The log said (in my own, Dutch language):
SvenOver has more than 5 settlements due to a previous pillagement.
Followed by:
SvenOver upgrades a settlement to a city for 2 grain 2 ore.
So in my case, it seems to have to do with my city loss too.

Later, move #444, I upgraded 1 of my then 4 settlements to a city, so then I had 3 settlements and 3 cities on the board. Here the number of settlements available DID change, from 0 to 1. So the increase by 1 DID work this time, although it should have been from 1 to 2 instead of from 0 to 1.

F5 did not solve problem.
Problem appeared multiple times.
Lost city early in game. Had five and ONLY five settlements. After buidling city, my settlement was never put back into play. Four on board, none available.
Later, built second city, that settlement never put back into game. So now two cities, three settlements, none in reserve.

White should be able to place a fifth settlement, but that is not allowed as the stock is empty. A city was previously razed and then rebuilt.

In the move log for 8/10/2025, appears:
LxLumiere has more than 5 settlements on board due to a previous pillage
LxLumiere upgrades a settlement to a city for...
But that was the first city that LxLumiere built. Other players *had* built cities, and the barbarians *had* visited.

i lost a citie, i didnt rebuild it ever, just built others. i dont know how to check it, but i believe i did built 5 settlements, but after building my first or second city i couldnt build another settlements, ended up with 4 max settlements.
