I have a similar issue with the same prompt “You may spend 2 coin to avoid debt”. If I click on "confirm" or "pass" the game tells me to press F5, but it doesn't solve anything. So I'm currently stuck...

I'm having the exact same issue using Firefox. Won't let me take a debt and I don't see a reason why I wouldn't be able to take a debt.

This needs more votes. When this happens the game is over and that player will get negative rep usually. I will literally quit games I get Hugo now.
It is the most disruptive bug as not only does it freeze the game, it hurts player reputations.
