Endgame rules:

There are two immediate victory conditions that end the game:
- If you place one of your Troops on the enemy H.Q., you immediately win the game.
- If you gain the number of Medals shown on the Terrain’s Medals objective, you immediately win the game.
The game also ends if a player cannot draw or place a Troop. In this case, compare your Medals: If you have more Medals than your opponent, you win the game. In case of tie, the player who ended the game loses and their opponent wins.

Your problem is that you don't know how to counter a player who uses the power of the Castle board's special base to permanently recover a number 5 troop.
I think it's best to discuss this with the players on the game's forum, but there are several ways to counter this type of technique.

It's obvious that the game's designers have tested this board hundreds of times ;)
