I concur. Much less than %25 for me and they only work during my turn, when they do. I have not figured out how or why they decide to pop up. When it’s not my turn, I’ll attempt to tap on a game part to view a tooltip, it will flash for less than a second and disappear. I am using an iPad and tested it on safari and google chrome browser. As far as I can tell, this is not specific to any game on the site. As I use BGA to learn new games, working tooltips would be so helpful! I suggest a function where if you hold your finger on a game option, it will show the tooltip without actually selecting that option.

I also agree. This was one of two iPad suggestions I was here to make (the other being a simple way to zoom, the icon works only until you scroll)

Yes, PLEASE. When I play on my iPhone, I simply cannot get tool tips to appear at all. No matter how short my tap is it always submits my move as if I regular-pressed on the card. Very frustrating for games like Innovation where the tooltip contains vital information about the game state and effect of selecting the card.

Agreed, some games are unplayable on a tablet unless you memorize all options first.

Perhaps an option would be to switch on a tablet between select mode and hover mode. If you are in hover mode you get the same results as when you hover your mouse over a control.

Something like:
On click event:
If HoverMode = True
display tooltip
exit event
else
continue normal click event

Yes - please!
There are frequent games where i would love to hover but it is considered a click, submitting something i don’t want, or blocking my interface from what i what to do.
And others where just nothing happens.

Both are pretty big issues

The new implementation of Agricola has this function bagged In and it’s fantastic. It’s a little toggle that turns on “Safe mode” and anything you click, just shows the hover tooltip. It’s so useful.

I’ve found a temporary fix:
The first time you click an item, the tooltip tends to work. It’s the subsequent ones that seem to fail.
What you can do is press the magnifying glass at the bottom left to zoom or dezoom,, this seems to “reset” the tooltip situation, and the next click will have the tool tip work.

Usually I just click twice in the zoom. The view stays the same and the next tooltip will work fine.

But yes this definitely needs a less fidgety solution!

Has anything been done about this? BGA is a nightmare on iOS. You just cannot hold to view any of the tooltips. I can see this was raised years ago, so am curious as to weather or not anything is being done?

New games are starting to come out with toggles to switch between help/safe mode (equivalent to tool tips only) and standard play mode - e.g. Agricola. This should be standardized as a requirement to leave alpha. but it should also be something that is being requested of existing games (or somehow implemented as a platform standard rather than a per game expectation)
This would create a safe clicking environment for mobile devices instead of unpredictable tap results.

The display tooltip works less than 25% of the time for me when playing on my ipad pro (3rd generation). I find myself having to switch to my phone to get the tootip to display and obtain cards information. The tooltip is very handy when playing games with multiple cards (ex. Ark Nova). I wish it was working well on my tablet. Thank you for considering fixing it.

Why isn’t this fixed yet? I would love to play more games on here but do not have a desktop/laptop. Only iPad. Very sad

Bumpity bump. Tooltips not showing on iPhone 15 in some games (eg ark Nova). Can turn on the tooltip toggle to see them, but cannot select a card when that is enabled.

This is a huge issue! If there were any other site for board games, many would leave for any other site at all that let tablets see info when you hover. Games are completely unplayable on tablet over this. HUGE issue! If i could up vote this every second I would

Agreed, still an issue! The tooltip suggestion helps, but it's still frustrating!

Yes please. On an iPad I can’t access the new low res order and tech cards in Yokohama. They are a vague blur.
