It's not a bug, it's a calculation error.
1 ^ 2 + 2 ^ 2 + 3 ^ 2 + 7 × 1 = 21
0 ^ 2 + 3 ^ 2 + 3 ^ 2 + 7 × 0 = 18
0 ^ 2 + 2 ^ 2 + 4 ^ 2 + 7 × 0 = 20

I also made a calculation error and misunderstood that it was a bug.

Same problem occured to me multiple times
Table no. #135242041
Got 3 mechanism, 2 geometry, one writing and one multitool
my science got calculated as 31 (multitool as mechanism), where best output is 35 ( multitool as writing)

It is a small difference, but a significant one, hope You can do sth about that

Hi,

Table #151475720, noticed science score wasn't calculated correctly for some of the players in the 'final positions' tab, but their total score wasn't affected.

I don't have the best score with pyramid steps (table/mechanism/triangle - not sure for the translation)
At the end I have :
- 2 tables / 3 mech / 3 triangle what it was choose it mechanism so 4 pts tables / 16 pts mech / 9 pts triangle + 14 pts for all symbols = 43 pts
- where as if pyramid steps was transform to table --> 3 of each symbols we have 3*9 = 27 + 3*7 = 21 = 48 pts
hum so the final score is correct but the display in the log is not correct (table was chosen but mechanism is displayed).

Two cases where scientific calculation appears incorrect:

7 Wonders #180244724 incorrect scientific calculation.
I had both the Guild and Board (extra symbols) and 2/1/1. Log indicates Geo and Writing selected.
Calculated score 26 (which I can't reach with any green combination).
Based on log should be 3/1/4 = 21. Optimized should be 3/3/3 = 30. Closest to calculation 3/1/2 = 25.

7 Wonders #18045955
Scientific score calculated as 26 for 2/2/2 (no guild or wonder extras).
The score should be 2^2+2^2+2^2+7*2= 30.

At table #315459438 player on Halikarnassos scored 10 points for a set of 3 different science cards, instead of 7, as the rule says, even after a replay. That was the only set of science cards that the player had. Screenshot: imgur.com/OYPMGMY

Niketchup: The guild is a wild card only for 1 of the icons. You have 4 of a kind + 1 wild, which makes 5 of a kind = 25 points. I don't see a bug here.

Bug pas encore corrigé, il me semble.
2 cartes de chaque symbole et 2 symboles au choix, donc selon moi, j'aurais dû avoir 38 points et on m'en crédite que 32.

I had 2/2/2 science cards.
I thinkni should have gotten 40 points (2x14 + 3x4), but I got 26!!! 14p less!!!!!
I lost where I should have won!
Again!

Same issue for me - surprised this hasn’t been resolved in the 4 years since it was first raised.

Game number 521732537

I played with Babylon night time board and completed my wonder, giving me extra science symbol of my choice.

I had collected 3 tablets, 4 cogs and 3 geometry

My bonus symbol could not complete a 4th set, so it should have been a cog (worth 9 points extra), but the game gave me a tablet/writing, which is only worth 7 points extra. Luckily, it didn’t cost me the win, but could easily in another game.

Please fix this bug.

I regularly see this happening, including with extra symbols from completed wonder stage. This has often changed the game outcomes.

I also sometimes observe other scoring bugs, but if this one still hasn't been looked into 4 years and over a dozen upvotes later, I imagine that bug reporting generally is probably a waste of time...

@Gameboard It's because there is no bug. It's just people doing math wrong.

This is not a bug.

Further confusion is due to the issue reported in boardgamearena.com/bug?id=24817 which will be fixed in near future.
