The rules state " The player with the least points at the end of the last hand is the winner." however I finished with -521 and lost to my wife (and everyone else) who scored zero points.

It's unclear if winning a trick is a good or bad thing.

In the rule, it's clearly state that you earn points so you should try to avoid them.
In the BGA adaptation, since the player with the highest score wins the game, the point are scored in a negative way.
So you should try to maximize your score which is the same as minimizing your points.

yes. this needs to be fixed.. reading rules makes people believe for the first game that negative points are good! so when they see their score go negative they dont understand that papayoo cards are bad!

Oh, i understand know why some people play in a way to score points. The score table displays negative points, but for sure it has to be change into positive points to match with rules and be more logical.
But could be an issue for sorting winner with GBA system?

Agree - it would make more sense if point scored were positive

There was much confusion around our game table about the point scoring. Either adjust the game scoring to give positive points or adjust the "How to Play" and the rule book to say that tricks give negative points.

The BGA system make the player with the bigger score wins the game. So positive scoring would not work here.
I added some warning in the rules wiki for the french version, but I don't have the right to change the english version...

The rules first say "collect as few points as possible" before anything else, so it's clear that getting points is a bad thing.

All that could really be done on BGA is adding some kind of "help" tooltip which explains this. Or perhaps display the current leader or ranks somewhere (on the scoreboard after every hand, for example).

"Points" could also be changed into "minus points", but I think that would only create extra confusion.
