Agree 100%. I would even go further and hide player names, so that every game is a new experience.

Haha, no way we are hiding the player names. But hiding ELO shouldn't hurt.

If you don't hide the player names as well, it doesn't make sense to hide the elo. With the names visible it's very easy to look up the players and check their elo.

It should go without saying (but apparently it does not) that I will not even entertain the idea of hiding player names. In real life you do not play this game blindfolded. :) Likewise, BGA is not a completely anonymous platform. Note that I cannot control any screens on BGA outside my game -- including the game lobby. There's absolutely no way to prevent someone from finding out your username or your ELO. That's not a bug.

I do agree that using ELO to make decisions in Coup goes against the spirit of the game, so hiding ELO within the game is a minor deterrent meant to discourage players from doing this. But, the entire game of Coup is arbitrary anyway! There's no "right" or "wrong" way to play this game. If someone really wants to target the player with the highest ELO, I can't stop them -- nor should I. Maybe I decide to always target the orange player just because I dislike that color. That's not "wrong", nor is it something I can or should stop.

It should go without saying (but apparently it does not) that in real life when playing with friends, elo isn't involved and hence you can't compare it with playing on BGA.
