Thank you for your suggestion. You make a good point. But... I like seeing my opponent's temporary selections because it adds a touch of realism. It let's you know that, while your opponent may be taking his time, at least he's there, doing something, if only evaluating different moves. I don't think it gives too much away about a player's thought process. But if it's a concern, don't touch any pieces until you're sure. As far as a rule about touching a piece and then having to move it, I'm not an expert on game etiquette. But how I've always played, you're not committed to a move until you've taken your hand off a piece, leaving it in a different location. Even after that, if my opponent wants to take his move back I personally will allow it, even though I think it's poor etiquette to take back moves after committing like that.

I don't have any control over replay. That's implemented in the BGA framework.

...but again, in real life play, players touch their pieces without moving them, at least in my limited experience. So if you can see that in real life, you should see it online as well, I believe.
