The player before me also had difficulties buying the mascot but was able to do it by clicking randomly everywhere.^^;

The button for buying a mascot was missing in desktop, Mac, Chrome.
320429671 #65 and also the time before
F5 did not solve the problem.
I also tried on my mobile with the same issue (Android, Chrome).

In order to buy the mascot card in the full game, you need to select a skill card. This is written in the status bar next to the buttons.

Unfortunately someone translated the string "5$" in swedish like "5 USD" and the game is not able to add the text "selecting a skill card" next to the text "you can recruit a mascot...".

Please change the translation of the game for the string "5$" (I'm not allowed to do it cause I'm not swedish speaker) (community menu from BGA, help to translate BGA...) and put for "5$" the translation back to "5$" this will show the additional string "selecting a skill card" next to the text on the status bar.

Nevertheless, if you select the skill card, the button will appears.
