They do not have the exact same meaning.

Standard - indicates that something is the norm or the generally accepted way (of playing the game).
Base - indicates that something is the foundation or starting point (or version) of something (in this case, the game).

Calling something "standard" also implies that the other versions are "non-standard"; which is strictly not true in the case of adding expansions. (x vs x')
Calling something "base" implies other things being "non-base" which is reasonably correct. (x vs x+y)

And even more importantly, in the context of boardgames, the game without the expansions is always the "base game", not the "standard game".

Sorry it took so long for me to get back to this. Forgot about it. And yea, it is just a semantic difference. Nice to change, but not a must-have. Thanks a lot for the awesome implementation :)
