I think this would avoid lots of clicks :)

Die in front of the car for the first click, on the nearest lane from the inside of the next corner for the second click.

I disagree with this suggestion unless it's done as an option. Long time players rely watching where the dice go to understand which lane is inside/outside without scrolling to the next corner to verify.

Also, I think the default dice placement should be on a legal space, if one is available

The default placement seems to be to move to the outside lane, when I would prefer to move to the inside lane as this is usually the shortest route

Actually, the default die should be on the inside lane !

This is very hard to change as the order is defined by the position of the fields (i.e. inside lane is later than the outside lane) and it Is defined manually for each space on each track. There are 99 tracks so it would be a month-long job. Only if I found a completely different solution that can be realistically implemented.

Dice are always placed (currently) in the lane of the least priority. This is a help for the gameplay and it is very useful. Maybe if it was the other way around, it would be less bothersome, but still keeping a logical order in regards of priority is good.
